*Seeker of the Way: Erilankesh can, at his option, utilize elaborate and arcane rituals to find unknown or seldom traveled Hyperspace paths. Provided that the route is seldom traveled, or never before traveled, and he spends AT LEAST three hours performing the ceremony, Erilankesh may add +2D (cumulative with other modifiers) to his Astrogation roll. i.e. Bypassing a standard route and jumping directly through a nebula is a very dangerous proposition. However due to either intuition, luck or actual extra-dimensional intervention, a Gand Wayseeker has a much better chance of plotting a successful nav jump, provided his ceremonies and rituals are uninterrupted. Hence, while not a terribly useful skill in a firefight, a Gand Wayseeker can cut hours, days or even weeks from a Hyperspace jump.

Erilankesh is a typical Gand, being slightly over five feet in height. The Gand are a vaguely insectoid race, with multifaceted eyes, mandibles and talon-like fingers. Gand is a gas giant, and the Gand race lives within the layers in "pocket colonies" on more solid ground found drifting in the swirling gasses. As such, Erilankesh must utilize a breather mask to provide him with the various gasses required for his survival. He can survive for short times without his mask, but it becomes more and more physically painful to do so, eventually leading to debilitation and death. His skin appears shiny and moist, but is in fact dry and quite cool to the touch.
Erilankesh favors an outfit of dark browns and greys. Unless in an environment specifically tailored to his breathing needs, his mouth is covered by the breathing apparatus required for his survival. He favors a heavy cloak with a deep hood whenever in direct, bright sunlight, as his eyes are not well suited to very bright light. Since his mouth is not particularly suited to form Galactic Standard, he wears a complex translator device on his chest that turns the rasping, clicking and popping Gand language into recognizable, but oddly inflected speech.
Erilankesh is a Gand Wayseeker, a splinter sect of the Gand Findsmen (the most infamous Gand Findsman being Zuckuss, the bounty hunter from SW:ESB). The Findsmen of Gand belong to a highly superstitious and religious sect. They worship the planet's enshrouding gaseous mists, looking to them for signs and omens that will lead them to their prey. When the Empire took over the planet's slave trade, the Gand no longer had a problem with runaways, as the Empire's sophisticated scanning equipment easily pinpointed fugitives in the mists. The Findsmen, with their ancient ritualistic ways, suddenly become obsolete. Many of them turned to other trades, but a few Findsmen decided to keep their ancient sect alive. They turned to the stars, where their specialized talents could be put to use. A sub-sect of the Findsmen, the so called "Seekers of the Ways" spun off from the rest of the Findsmen, delving deeper into the mysteries of the universe. The Wayseekers' mysticism evolved through their explorations of the galaxy, and it is the central belief of their religion that, viewed from the proper points and perspectives, the hyperspace lanes between the star systems spell out revelations into the essential truths of the universe. Gand Wayseekers obsessively travel, adding to their nav charts, constantly looking for a vantage point from which to receive enlightenment.
Erilankesh is relatively ambivalent regarding the Empire. Morally speaking, he has more in common idealogically with the Empire than he does with the Rebellion, mostly due to his strict caste system upbringing, and there have been times in the past that he has worked with Imperial Scouts to find hidden and out of the way sectors - the Imperials searching for Rebel Bases, Erilankesh looking for the Divine Vantage.
From an idealogical standpoint, Erilankesh cannot quite grasp the concept of the rebellion. He views them as an entire group of fugitives and runaways, which is distasteful to his Findsman heritage. However, the Wayseekers are a foreward-thinking group, and the quest for enlightenment has supplanted the desire to return the "fugitives" to justice, and so can work alongside rebellion operatives, although he tends to be rather aloof to such persons.
